To An Athlete Dying Young

To An Athlete Dying Young- By A.E. Housman

This is a poem about a young runner who not only won the race, but made a record time. The theme is that you can either live a legend and die forgotten, or to live a legend and die a legend. The poem is an elegy because it is written to someone who has died. It is also a lyric poem, because it talks about the feelings of the people. The pattern or rhyme scheme is A-A-B-B, and there 7 stanzas with four lines in each, making it have twenty-eight lines. This is a good poem that I suggest reading. It is definitely worth the time.
